What if my dog's vaccines are expired and I am already a customer of Camp K-9?
The great news is that Camp K-9 sends out a vaccine reminder 60 days before your vaccines are going to expires so be sure to check your inboxes for email from Camp K-9! Dogs who are not current on the core vaccines that we require, Rabies, Bordetella and Distemper are not allowed to attend Day Camp or Sleepovers until they are current. The Bordetella vaccines requires a 20 day waiting period if the vaccine has expired, so you would need to wait 20 days after the vaccine is given after it has lapsed to schedule your dog.
What if it snows or there is inclement weather do you close?
Camp K-9 follows the Westfield Public Schools Closing announcements due to snow or inclement weather. We do not follow their delay schedule, we are open during school delays regular business hours. In the event of a the Westfield Public School Closing, Camp K-9 staff will always be available to take care of the overnight campers, but our Day Camp will be closed. If there is a two day closure of school, we typically will not close on the second day, so that we may accommodate our clients . Second day closures are typically due to sidewalks and temperature issues with the local schools, we we will typically remain open. We ask that you follow us on Facebook for the latest in Closings due to weather.
What Makes you different from a traditional kennel?
Kennels vary, but in a "traditional" kennel, your dog is usually left in a cage most of the day and may be let out briefly or placed in an outdoor run a couple of times a day. The dogs usually do not interact with other dogs. Some kennels will offer 15-minute play times with a staff member for an extra charge. It is important to know that Camp K-9 offers all-day play for no additional cost. The dogs are with a playgroup all day long and with staff which is included with your sleepover.
How do you justify your prices?
At Camp k-9 we offer a free day of camp to all of our overnight campers. After a full day of playing with their friends your pup will be more than ready to turn in for the night. Your dog not only gets playtime all day, but our playgroups are staffed all day to give your dog the attention it deserves.
What should I bring for my dog ?
Bring your dogs food and favorite snack. We recommend bringing something comforting (favorite blanket or toy) from home to allow your dog to feel as comfortable as possible
What vaccinations are required?
All dogs must be up to date on their rabies, bordetella and distemper vaccines
Why does my dog have to be spayed or neutered?
The main reason is that intact dogs are at greater risk of injury from other dogs. In a social environment, intact males are often viewed as threats by other dominant dogs. Intact females, whether in heat or not, may be picked on by other female dogs and male dogs will view her as an intact female and treat her as such.
Will there be anyone there overnight?
There will not be an associate there over night. Your camper will be more than safe and comfortable until morning in their cabin. We also offer web cam access so you can view your little one as they sleep.
